Draft National Curriculum documents for primary education
The Department of Education released drafts of the new Primary National Curriculum in June 2012.
The draft Programmes of Study are available at the DfE website, and are subject to an informal consultation and re-draft before being re-published later in 2012.
The draft Primary National Curriculum for English has a focus on speaking and listening, reading for enjoyment, spelling, grammar and handwriting, and poetry recitation.
The draft National Curriculum for Mathematics and Science were also released, and Education Minister Michael Gove said there would be a focus on foreign languages in the new curriculum.
The new National Curriculum will be introduced in primary schools from September 2014.
