Free Time Questionnaire given to Young People in Lewisham

Sydenham and Forest Hill Youth Forum survey of what activities young people do/want to do is published.

680 young people from London Burrough of Lewisham responded to this questionnaire and the arts top the choice for activities young people are interested in doing.

The document downloadable from Sydenham and Forest Hill Youth Forum (this is on their home page on the right hand side and called Freetime Questionnaire Report) is presented in a digestible way, and interesting highlights include:

· A question about when do you have free time for activities showed a fairly even spread across week days but with more young people (183) choosing Friday evenings and 246 citing Saturdays and 205 Sundays.

· Arts activities were chosen 516 times as activities they would like to take part in - much higher than other categories.

· Do you have any ideas of new projects or clubs you would like to attend?” this question generated lots of arts 'requests' - 65 in total.

· In the analysis Melissa states ' The data on demographics dispels some stereotypes about young people. Not all boys want sports, most want art and design clubs.'
