News Story

Lewisham Live 2017, a festival celebrating young peoples talents in music and dance, officially starts next week with open rehearsals and showcases at the newly opened Tate Exchange.

Lewisham Live is made up of a selection of music, dance and collaborative performances by young people from the borough - some of whom have been mentored by professional choreographers and composers, and others who are getting the chance to perform in renowned venues for the very first time.

Lewisham launched with a bang last week with open rehearsals and sharing sessions at the new experimental gallery space; Tate Exchange.

Now, as March approaches the festival gets into full swing with back to back events across some of Lewisham's most prestigious venues.

The part-time post-holder will be expected to lead on the delivery of Sound Connections’ training programme and coordinate the London Early Years Music Network (LEYMN) and the Challenging Circumstances Music Network (CCMN).

Working with Kinetica, two local artists will have the chance to each design and paint one six-metre long silk scroll for Royal Greenwich during a six-day residency in Thurrock. The scrolls will be paraded with nine others along the Thames in September 2017, on a walk starting in Kew and finishing in Southend. The residency will benefit artists that want to develop their skills and explore new artistic processes.

NMM are creating a story collecting machine that will tour the country engaging people in playful participatory, immersive and entertaining experiences and collecting stories of their connections to the sea.

Calling all budding artists!
