Next steps for schools in London – school places, raising standards and improving attainment

 

Scheduled to follow the release of the third London Annual Education Report later this year, delegates at this seminar will consider key challenges and opportunities ahead for schools in London.

Delegates will consider progress made and next steps for programmes being undertaken in this area – such as the London Schools Excellence Fund, the London Schools Gold Club scheme and the London Curriculum – and will also discuss the impact of ongoing work to support the expansion of free schools in London. The conference is expected to bring together key policymakers with a range of stakeholders, including school and college leaders, awarding bodies, regulators, parent and governor groups, local authorities, academy chains, think tanks, unions, consultants, and academics.

At this early stage, we are delighted that Caroline Boswell, Head of Education and Youth, Greater London Authority; Martin Post, Regional Schools Commissioner for South-Central England and North-West London and Mela Watts, Director, Free Schools Group, Department for Education have kindly agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.

Dr Melanie Ehren, Reader, London Centre for Leadership in Learning, Institute of Education, University of London; Sam Freedman, Director of Research, Evaluation and Impact, Teach First; Jane Hargreaves, Divisional Director, Education, Youth and Childcare, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham; Alex Kenny, Executive Member, NUT; Marcus Mason, Head of Business, Education and Skills, British Chambers of Commerce and James Probert, Director of Impact and Design, City Year UK have also agreed to speak.
