Google Ads: A beginner's guide to free search marketing for small charities

This half-day workshop will look at the basics of Search Marketing (also known as Pay-Per-Click, or PPC), how to enrol for the Ad Grants scheme, and how to get the best returns.

Small Charities Coalition knows it can be hard to get your organisation and your message out to new audiences and supporters, and that advertising online to drive more visitors to your page can be complex and expensive. Luckily, Google runs a Nonprofit Programme that provides, amongst other things, a free $10,000 a month of online advertising credit to registered charities - allowing you to start advertising your cause to people searching on Google (known as Search Marketing).

This half-day workshop will look at the basics of Search Marketing (also known as Pay-Per-Click, or PPC), how to enrol for the Ad Grants scheme, and how to get the best returns. Whether you are looking to improve how potential service users and donors find you, or how the public can find out more about the issues you're campaigning on, this workshop will give you tips and tools to help you reach the right people using search marketing and Ads (previously known as Adwords)

This workshop will cover:

  • An introduction to Google AdWords, the Google for Nonprofits and Ad Grants programmes, and how charities can get the most out of it.

  • An overview of AdWords and Adwords Express

  • The AdWords interface and an explanation of how to set up campaigns.

  • The best ways to structure your AdWords campaigns to get the best value.

  • Ongoing management and reporting of AdWords campaigns, including requirements of the Google for Nonprofits programme.

Level: This workshop is aimed at those taking their first steps into using Google Adwords, including those who have not yet started using it.
