Understanding child sexual exploitation

VAL and EqualiTeam are hosting an NSPCC workshop to build capacity in Lewisham to respond to Child Sexual Exploitation at an early stage.

Posted: 10/03/2022

Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a growing problem nationally, and the
issues are often very entrenched by the time young people reach more
specialist CSE services.

This free half-day workshop will include discussion about the local
context, Lewisham-specific agencies that people can refer to,
local CSE hot-spots and other issues related to the local demographic.

The aims of the workshop are to:

  • establish or build on a foundation of knowledge around child sexual exploitation and grooming
  • develop the confidence of those in regular contact with older children
and young people in recognising and responding to child sexual
    exploitation, and
  • establish useful contacts in relation to accessing further support around child sexual exploitation concerns.

Who is this event for?

Anyone working or volunteering with older children and young people
aged 10-25 years in the borough of Lewisham is welcome to attend.

More information and how to book on the VAL website.
