Calling Early Career BAME Visual Artists

Deptford X are offering early career BAME artists the opportunity to join a 2 hour closed session online led by an artist or art professional who will share advice and experience on establishing a career as a BAME artist in the UK.

Participants for each session are limited to 6 and applicants will be selected
based on their need for support.

  • Teresa Cisneros – Supporting an artistic practice

  • Chila Kumari Burman – Navigating artistic ambitions and
    cultural expectations

Each session leader offers a different focus and applicants may apply to join a session by completing a short application. You will be asked to provide the following:

  • An answer to the question: In what way will your chosen session support your artistic development? (maximum 100 words)
  • A short artist statement (maximum 50 words)

You may apply to join any one of the sessions listed here. All sessions take place on Wednesdays at 4pm via Zoom. A link will be sent to participants a few days before. 

Application deadline for the session with Hew Locke is 16th June. Please see the website for deadlines for the other sessions.

They can provide large
format and audio versions of our application form and they welcome
audio or video submissions.
