Age Exchange, the UK’s leading reminiscence
arts practitioners specialising in innovative approaches to dementia
care, are planning to re- open their arts based day service in Lambeth. They also have groups in Blackheath and are planning to open a new service
in Essex.

 

To help Age Exchange run this exciting programme they
are recruiting a team of Freelance Arts professionals to join them at
Blackheath, Essex or Lambeth to provide a rich programme of
inspirational arts, reminiscence, and social activities, which will
enhance the health, happiness and well-being of people living with
dementia and their family/carers.

At
Age Exchange they aim to have diverse participation in all arts sessions,
training and other activities. They would like to hear from freelance art
practitioners particularly from the ethnic minority communities who
have experience of creating reminiscence art activity sessions with
people living with dementia from a similar cultural heritage.

 

In
this role you will be supported by volunteers to lead weekly
Reminiscence Arts activity sessions for participants with dementia and
their carer, applying the specialist training you will receive from Age
Exchange and ongoing support, and guidance. You will really get to
know the people you support each week and use techniques and practice
which will help you connect on a deeply meaningful level with the
participants you support. And whilst Age Exchange are looking to recruit skilled
arts professionals – they want you to use your own life experience,
personality and humour to create experiences people will enjoy.

 

To apply to join you will need:

· A professional arts background in either dance, music, visual arts or theatre.

·
Experience in participatory arts and facilitating the creativity of
others, ideally having worked previously with older people including
older people with dementia.

· A passion to use your arts practice to improve health and wellbeing

·
You will engage with people with a variety of mediums, and in a variety
of ways, understand individual’s preferences, capabilities, histories
and cultural backgrounds.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview via zoom on 5th and 6th July

If
appointed, you will be asked to attend 2 days of training with Age
Exchange before the commencement of the programme in the Summer. The
training is expected to be delivered on the 13th and 14th July.

Pay
rates (on freelance basis)
£85 per session or £170 per day.
